When I decided to bite the bullet and actually write and self-publish my stories in novel form, I knew it would be a lot of work. But holy cow! Besides the writing and editing part, it’s like another full-time job! So much research, things to know, starting a business (to publish under) which includes a lawyer and banking and payment methods & the list is endless…, learning how to market (ugh), signing up with the companies I’ll be publishing with (Amazon KDP, Draft2Digital, IngramSpark, ACX & eventually Findaway Voices – those are who I’m using but there are a lot more options to look into), finding editors, finding voice actors, and don’t get me started on the expenses!
It will get easier over time and a lot of this stuff is to get started and won’t have to be repeated, but it is a lot! However, I am LOVING every moment of it! I am beyond excited to be making my stories into novels and can’t wait until it’s time to publish!
Anyway, this post is not meant to discourage anyone who is considering self-publishing, just know it takes a tone of time and possibly a lot of money. I just wanted to give those who are thinking of publishing an idea of what to expect. Also, I wanted to give my readers more information as to why I haven’t been around much in the last many months. I am writing and/or editing everyday in addition to figuring all the other stuff out. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
